Latin App for Schools: a free pilot for one term
Do you want to support Latin at your school digitally — without new devices, without forced accounts, without pupil data leaving the EU? Lapicida Latinus runs in the browser and as an app, on any tablet or laptop. One class and the supervising teacher can trial it free for one term — in return for your feedback from the classroom.

Made for the department — not against your textbook
Lapicida Latinus is textbook-neutral: it replaces no book and no course, but takes over what costs the most time in class — the patient, repetitive practice of forms, vocabulary and syntax. The focus is on pupils who need more repetition, explicitly including those with dyslexia: a calm interface, colour-coded word breakdown, no distraction.
What it is not: not a game with point-chasing, no advertising, no further account requirement. The class works via a join code — no Microsoft, Google or IServ account.
What matters for school use
All data is stored in Frankfurt, Germany. No transfer to third countries. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is provided for signature.
By default, pupils join under a pseudonym. Real names are possible, but a deliberate choice by the teacher — not the default.
The teacher creates a class and hands out a join code. No Microsoft, Google or IServ account required.
The teacher sees daily who is stuck and who is inactive — before a gap in learning forms. Differentiation by year group, without extra testing.
In the app you can write with a stylus instead of typing — no particular pen model needed. Especially helpful for younger classes and for learning to write.
Content once loaded stays available; progress syncs on the next connection. Wi-Fi is enough, no installation required.
Data protection: what is collected — and what isn’t
As long as the school organises the use, it is the controller; Lapicida Latinus processes on its behalf. Only what makes learning visible is collected:
- Collected: learning progress — which task, right or wrong, when.
- Not collected: no location data, no address book, no camera except when voluntarily scanning your own vocabulary lists.
- No advertising, no reselling of data, no tracking pixels.
- A fully drafted data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR and a privacy notice for parents are ready.
Pricing: two routes to choose from
After the free trial there are two routes — they can also be mixed: families with their own access join by code, and the school provides places for the rest.
Route 1 — the school buys the access
- €19.99 per pupil and school year, one invoice to the school (gross price incl. 19% VAT — nothing is added).
- For schools, annual licences only. A place can be reassigned at the start of each school year — the school buys a place, not a person.
- Teacher access is included.
Route 2 — families buy themselves
- No cost to the school.
- €4.99 monthly · €19.99 yearly · €49.99 one-off for permanent access — all final prices incl. VAT.
- Joining runs via the teacher’s code — teacher control works exactly as with school access. The access stays with the child, even when changing class, teacher or school.
Larger volumes — for a whole year group or several classes — on request.
A limited number of free pilot places — in return for your feedback
For the school year we provide a limited number of free pilot places: one class plus supervising teacher, for one term. In return we ask for feedback from the classroom — what helps, what is missing, what gets in the way. We handle setup and a short induction, on site or by video call.

How a trial works

| Before the start | Class setup, teacher induction (about 1 hour) |
| One term | Trial in the classroom |
