Learning mode
What is it?
The learning mode decides which grammar you get: all of it — or only what your textbook has covered so far. The sentences and exercises are always Lapicida’s own.
The two ways
- Without a textbook: All content. You choose what and how fast.
- With a textbook (with a licence): Aligns the whole app with your book’s grammar — you only practise what it has covered.
How to set your book
- Which book do you use? Choose one of 24 textbook editions. Without a book, choose Lapicida Latinus (Meridian): our own progression across the common textbooks.
- How far along are you? Choose the volume or year of your book; next to it you see which lesson it goes up to. Without a book the app asks: “How long have you been studying Latin?”
- Which lesson? The lesson up to which you practise. Without a book, everything is unlocked. You can also set your lesson later under “My Area”.
The app then reloads once so the exercises match your new level — the “Apply new learning year” button does that.
You can photograph your book’s word list yourself and turn it into a list of your own. Which textbooks we cover
Without a book: what each year unlocks
- 1st year: Present · Active · Noun & adjective declension · ACI
- 2nd year: Perfect/Imperfect/Pluperfect/Future · Passive · Relative clause · Participle (PC)
- 3rd year: Subjunctive · Ablative absolute · 4th declension
- 4th year: Gerund/Gerundive · Deponents · Comparison · Future perfect · Original texts
How you learn
Right below sits everything that changes how the app teaches: Unlock words one at a time, Word analysis (every form split into stem · tense marker · ending from the start), the dyslexia-friendly font and the switches for the Forms Trainer, Sensus and vocabulary games. None of it deletes progress. All switches in detail
Are you in a class?
Then your teacher sets book and level — the choice is locked for you so everyone practises at the same stage.
