Settings

What is it?

The settings are where you adapt Lapicida to the way you learn — not the other way round. Whether you follow your textbook, have forms read aloud, use an easier-to-read font or hide individual games: you decide. None of it is compulsory, and nothing gets lost.

What can you set?

Open them via the menu (☰) → ⚙️ Settings. They are grouped in this order:

  • 🌐 Language: Interface in English or German. The Latin stays Latin.
  • 🔊 Audio & Pronunciation: With a licence, the ♪ button plays any pronunciation as often as you like. With a licence, Auto-Play plays it after every answer. Without a licence there is sound in the first Unda reading text. Over 28,000 words, forms and practice sentences are recorded.
  • 🔔 Notifications: “What you achieved yesterday” (around 9 am, only after a day you practised) and news from Lapicida. No reminders, no nagging.
  • 🎓 Learning Mode: Without a textbook or With a textbook (with a licence): choose book, volume and lesson — then you only practise the grammar your book has covered, with sentences and exercises by Lapicida. Below it, “How you learn”: word analysis, dyslexia-friendly font, games and more. More on the learning mode
  • ✍️ Handwriting / Pen: Write answers on the wax tablet instead of typing — in the apps, with a licence.
  • 📚 Sentence Quiz/Vocabulary Settings: Text corpus (including theological Latin) and tenses in the Sentence Quiz. Game & trainer settings
  • ☁️ Account & Cloud & Telemetry: Activate a licence, join a class, sync your progress on up to 3 devices — and reset your learning path. Cloud & telemetry
  • 🧭 App Tour: Explains the learning path on the home screen once more.

How do you set it?

Every option is a switch or a choice, and you see the effect at once. The three switches you need most — Auto-Play, dyslexia font and Dark Mode — are also right in the sidebar (Quick settings). Anything that can delete progress sits separately under “Account & Cloud & Telemetry” and asks twice.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I set my textbook?

Settings → Learning Mode → “With a textbook” → “Which book do you use?”. We only store grammar features — no sentences, exercises or vocabulary from the book; everything you practise comes from Lapicida Latinus. You can photograph your book’s word list yourself and turn it into a list of your own. Which textbooks we cover

Do I lose progress if I switch a game off?

No. Your vocabulary boxes stay untouched — you only hide the game, not your progress.

What happens to my practice results?

With a licence or in a class we use them to support your learning — and, in a class, for your teacher. Not to see where you click. Without a licence the app only sends anonymous signals. More under Cloud & telemetry.
