What is this?
Here you connect the app to your licence and your class, decide about anonymous usage data, and sync your progress across several devices. Designed to be data-minimal: you don’t need a user account, the anonymous statistics can be switched off, and the servers are in Germany.
These settings
- Activate licence: Enter your licence key (format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) to unlock all features — usable on up to 3 devices. No licence yet? You buy one in the Licence tab.
- Join a class: Enter the join code from your teacher (name optional). If you’re already in a class, you’ll see your class and school here and can leave. With school licences, your teacher manages this.
- Telemetry (full version only): Anonymous usage data helps us improve Lapicida. On by default, switchable off at any time (opt-out). If you switch it off, cloud sync, Wiktionary and DeepL carry on as normal — only the statistics stop.
- Online services (full version): Optional DeepL key for extra translation help.
- Cloud synchronisation (full version): Backs up your progress across up to 3 devices. Auto-sync keeps everything up to date automatically; alternatively Upload (this device → cloud) or Download (cloud → device, overwrites the local state). For students, auto-sync runs automatically — at the start and end of every practice session.
Privacy
Lapicida is built for data minimisation: to learn you need neither an account nor an email address. You can switch off the anonymous telemetry with one click — everything else keeps working unchanged. Your synced learning data sits on servers in Germany and is tied to your licence key, not to a personal profile.
Tip
Upload is always safe (your device backs up to the cloud). Download overwrites the local state — use it when you move to a new device and want to fetch the cloud state.
